Product Description The 1939 World's Fair was designed to help bring back economic stability from a depressed society. The fair was held in New York's Flushing Meadows Park and was promoted through 1938. Howard Hughes, one of the wealthiest people of his time, flew a special World's Fair plane across the country to New York in 1938 while all three of New York's baseball clubs wore patches to commemorate the event throughout the season. The patch was a depiction of the Trylon and Perisphere, the main symbol of the fair. With the promotional patch on their left sleeve, the 1938 Yankees continued to dominate baseball, winning their third straight World Series. This authentic jersey will have the number 5 on it. This is the number worn by Joe DiMaggio with the 1938 New York Yankees. Please note: the player's name is not on the jersey. Quality Construction Authentic Materials. Accurate detailing. Exceptional workmanship. These are the hallmarks of Mitchell and Ness's shirts, jackets, sweaters and felt pennants. The wool flannel shirts are constructed of a lightweight wool blend predominant in the late 60's. The 70's and 80's knit jerseys are made of fabrics identical to the originals. Sleeve length is measured from top of armhole to bottom of sleeve. | Size | Body Length | Body Width | Sleeve Length | 40 (M
